Founded in 2009, Catoctin Area Turners (CAT) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit woodturning club where members gather to share their love of the art and craft of woodturning. As a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners, we welcome everyone—from curious beginners to seasoned artisans.

No equipment required to join! Our mentoring program connects newcomers with experienced turners who are eager to share their knowledge, techniques, and sometimes even their workshops for hands-on learning.

Our Mission

We advance the art of woodturning by educating our members and the public, enhancing skills, and promoting safety at every turn. Through community outreach, we share our passion for turning techniques, tool selection, design principles, wood selection, and finishing. We foster networking, friendship, and cooperation among woodturners while supporting Arts & Crafts organizations throughout our region.
