A Year of Growth and Impact

What a year it has been! Our Catoctin Area Turners family has grown to over 150 active members, and together we've accomplished so much:

  • Thursday Night Turning (TNT) has introduced dozens of new turners to our craft through weekly hands-on education
  • Our Women in Turning program continues to build diversity and create an inclusive community where all feel welcome
  • Youth Outreach has inspired homeschooled students ages 12-18, planting seeds for the next generation of woodturners
  • Monthly Skills Workshops and club meetings have helped members master new techniques and push their creative boundaries
  • Our mentoring program has connected experienced turners with beginners, sharing knowledge and fostering lasting friendships

Making a Difference Beyond Our Workshops

What truly sets CAT apart is our commitment to serving our community:

  • Through Beads of Courage, we've created beautiful handcrafted bowls for children battling cancer, honoring their courage and journey
  • Our Turning for the Troops program has produced custom-made pens for active military personnel, expressing our gratitude for their service
  • We've participated in numerous shows and events, sharing the art of woodturning with the broader community

Your Support Makes It All Possible

None of this would be possible without members like you. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, CAT relies on the generosity of our members to:

  • Maintain our equipment and facilities
  • Purchase materials for community service projects
  • Support our educational programs and workshops
  • Provide resources for new members
  • Expand our youth outreach initiatives
  • Continue our mission of advancing the art of woodturning

Year-End Giving: A Win-Win Opportunity

As 2025 comes to a close, I want to remind you of the significant tax benefits available through year-end charitable giving:

Tax Deduction Benefits:

  • Donations made by December 31, 2025 can be deducted on your 2025 tax return
  • As a 501(c)(3) organization, your contribution to CAT is fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law
  • You may be able to deduct the fair market value of donated equipment, tools, or wood
  • Consult with your tax advisor to maximize your charitable giving strategy

Why Give Now?

  • Offset gains from stock sales or other income in 2025
  • Reduce your taxable income before year-end
